Job summary

Versiti Blood Research Institute in Grand Rapids is seeking a Blood Component Manufacturing Technician. You will prepare and QC blood components under SOPs, following regulatory standards. The role includes night shifts Sun–Wed, 10-hour shifts, 10:00 PM–8:30 AM, with on-call duties as needed.

The team emphasizes accuracy, safety, and collaboration, manufacturing RBCs, plasma products, and specialized components. A High School Diploma and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–6 months related experience or equivalent
• Ability to read, interpret, and write operating forms and manuals
• Aptitude for computers and data entry; strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Manufactures Red Blood Cells (RBCs), Fresh Frozen Plasma and Recovered Plasma.
• Manufactures Neonatal RBCs; sterile docks Pedipaks to Platelet Apheresis and Neonatal RBCs.
• Performs leukoreduction of Whole Bloods and RBCs.
• Manufactures Cryoprecipitate and Cryo Reduced Plasma; labels products to meet regulations.
• Maintains production productivity to meet department goals
• Works weekends, holidays, on-call as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
