Job summary

Inova Health System in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a Clinical Logistics Bed Placement RN Coordinator to support day-to-day bed placement and patient flow. The role is full-time, overnight shifts 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., with self-scheduling and rotating weekends; department operates 24/7 with on-site work only.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• 3 years of acute care nursing experience.
• Virginia RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assigns patients to the right care site while promoting positive outcomes related to bed placement.
• Coordinates with the Transfer Center and care sites to balance patient volumes across sites.
• Obtains admission information from ED, PACU, direct admissions and transfers to determine appropriateness of admission.
• Collaborates with care-site teams on challenging admissions for appropriate placement.
• Facilitates daily capacity/flow meetings, leads problem-solving during high census periods, and helps develop action plans to reduce boarding/wait times.
• Directs patient flow coordinators in prioritizing bed placement for all patient types upon admission or transfer.
• Monitors EPIC bed planning and bed board modules to plan bed availability based on census, OR cases, and discharges.
• Onboards new team members to patient flow initiatives and raises awareness of patient flow importance.
• Maintains awareness of staffing levels in EVS, transport and nursing that impact flow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
