Job summary

Alpha Baking Company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class for the Chicago, IL facility. This full-time, on-site role offers a probationary period with a rate of $31.39/hour, transitioning to $34.88/hour, plus a $1.50 night-shift premium for hours between 6 PM and 6 AM.

You will perform maintenance and repair on bakery equipment, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and use welding and fabrication skills. Weekend shifts and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' bakery equipment maintenance experience.
• Proficiency with mechanical and electrical maintenance; welding & basic fabrication.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift, weekends, and overtime.
• Regular physical stamina to stand, walk, and use tools.
• Safety compliance and PPE adherence.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on bakery equipment, ensuring machinery operates efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, identifying root causes of failures.
• Utilize intermediate knowledge of hand tools, welding, and basic fabrication to complete maintenance tasks.
• Operate diagnostic and precision instruments to assess equipment performance and identify areas needing repair.
• Work independently, performing tasks without requiring help or guidance.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in weekend shifts as required, maintaining flexibility in scheduling.
