Job summary

Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a Night Shift Automation Engineer to ensure stability, efficiency, and security of automation systems in a high-volume facility in Olyphant, PA. You will manage PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and control software, while collaborating with staff and vendors to keep production lines running around the clock.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 5–8 years of PLC automation experience, and strong communication skills to train and support teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5-8 years of programming and troubleshooting experience with PLC automation and related controls.
• Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC systems and Systems Control Technologies.
• Strong programming and modification skills for PLCs and HMIs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across staff, vendors and management.
• Ability to prioritize and interpret work requests and work orders efficiently.
• Experience developing training materials and conducting trainings for management, technicians and users.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, monitor, and maintain automation hardware, software and OS to achieve plant KPIs.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support for automated processes, including line control and robotics systems.
• Specify and procure replacement parts and maintenance contracts.
• Evaluate technology and equipment options across manufacturing operations.
• Test new or modified software to meet user requirements.
• Assist in procurement and integration of new equipment and modification of automation software.
• Create and maintain hardware documentation for automation equipment.
• Develop, modify, or edit programs for process control, robotics, and HMIs.
• Maintain and manage backup programs for control processors, robotics, HMIs, and data systems.
• Conduct technology research and provide recommendations.
• Install and configure new hardware/software and provide user training and support.
