Job summary

The University of Iowa's Department of Anesthesia seeks a Clinical Technician III to assist anesthesia providers before, during, and after patient procedures across MOR, SFCH, ASC OB-GYN, and satellite areas. The schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM, on campus.

Responsibilities include preparing anesthesia areas and equipment, IV solutions, invasive monitoring lines, and ensuring readiness for each case, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and timely turnover.

Qualifications

• Three years of health care experience involving direct patient care with some use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment.
• At least one year of prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintains anesthesia service areas in readiness for anesthesia provider (OR, ASC, PACU, Urology, Labor & Delivery).
• Assures proper anesthesia equipment is available and configured for the next case.
• Assembles and prepares intravenous (IV) solutions and invasive monitoring lines (arterial, CVP, PA/LAP, blood lines).
• Cleans anesthesia work areas and prepares for follow-on cases, performing terminal cleaning after the last case of the day.
