Job summary

The Salvation Army Shelter Monitor is a part-time position supporting the Emergency Shelter Director in a Christian environment. You will supervise residents, perform intake, assign rooms, and enforce shelter rules while maintaining a clean, safe facility. Supervision of volunteers and periodic seasonal duties are included.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience. Strong communication, confidentiality, and office software skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, and a minimum of 1 year experience.
• Able to handle confidential matters and maintain discretion.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and payroll/timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interview of incoming residents into the shelter.
• Assign a proper room; distribute bedding and personal items.
• Provide supervision of shelter and residents; enforce rules.
• Answer phones and take messages as appropriate.
• General cleaning and light food service duties as needed.
• Distribute medications and oversee overall cleanliness.
