Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a security officer to protect staff and visitors and maintain a safe environment at UAB St. Vincent's St.Clair in Pell City, AL. You will monitor for potential threats, respond promptly to incidents, and document actions to ensure preparedness and safety.

The role requires an Alabama concealed carry permit, a valid Alabama driver’s license, and a BLS certification within 30 days. High school diploma or equivalent and up to one year of related experience are acceptable.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• In state Alabama concealed carry weapons permit required.
• Driver's License from Alabama DMV required.
• Security professional preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness; facilitate drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Operate in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.
