Job summary

San Diego Zoo Safari Park seeks a Security Officer I to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and staff. The role supports medical emergencies, conducts investigations, and prepares reports that may be used in court.

You will respond to guest concerns and assist with evacuations and security transports. The position requires one year of security or related experience, BSIS Guard Card, first aid and CPR within specified windows, and a California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or equivalent training in security or related field.
• Experience in a zoo, theme park, or similar facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence to ensure a safe, family-friendly environment.
• Respond to medical emergencies and dispatch as needed.
• Investigate incidents and document reports for potential court use.
• Assist guests with issues such as lost persons and guest disputes.
• Respond to emergencies including fires, power outages, and evacuations.
• Escort money transports and secure vaults.
• Communicate effectively with team and guests.
