Job summary

South East Middle School is seeking a Night Custodian for an 8-hour shift, Tuesday through Saturday, with evening hours on most school days. The role covers cleaning, maintenance and safety tasks to support a productive learning environment.

The successful candidate will be trained for custodial duties and must have a valid driver’s license. This full-time position reports to the facilities leadership and requires flexibility for coverage and weekend shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated custodial experience or ability to be trained as evaluated by Custodial Managers.
• Proven ability to communicate with others.
• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of housekeeping practices and materials.
• Knowledge of minor equipment repairs.
• Knowledge of routine maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and work outdoors and indoors.
• May be exposed to dust, dirt, chemicals, weather and blood borne pathogens.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, secure, and conducive environment for student learning.
• Flexible, adaptable, and cooperative to meet daily service requirements.
• Order and maintain supplies as needed.
• Ensure school cleanliness meets District standards.
• Ensure proper heating, ventilation and cooling; report major problems.
• Assist in safeguarding school property from loss.
• Coordinate with building administrator on needs and events.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Be available to cover Head Custodian as needed.
• Oversee snow removal to meet safety standards.
• Complete minor repairs as time allows.
• Communicate clearly using verbal and written methods.
• Use email and the work order system for tasks.
