Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to care for patients with breathing and lung problems, providing oxygen, medications and breathing treatments. The role includes ventilator management, education for patients and families, and documentation in the EMR.

The position is full-time, nights, on a 12-hour schedule across Mercyhealth facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with IL/WI licensure, CPR, and NRP

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• IL and WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
• CPR certification.
• NRP within 90 days of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine therapies to aid cardiopulmonary status.
• Initiate, monitor, and wean invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
• Evaluate and adjust treatment and medication delivery.
• Assess patients pre/post therapy and adjust as needed.
• Educate patients and families about therapies and goals.
• Document care accurately in electronic medical records.
• Maintain/prepare equipment; troubleshoot ventilators and devices.
• Participate in on-call coverage if required.
