Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist in Worcester, MA to perform a variety of diagnostic radiography procedures using standard, portable, and specialized x-ray equipment. You will assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment, ensure patient comfort, and maintain imaging protocols.

Responsibilities include patient positioning, safety compliance with ALARA guidelines, contrast preparation when needed, quality image evaluation, and active participation in PACs/RIS workflow

Qualifications

• License/Certification/Education required as listed in the job description.
• ARRT certification required within 12 months from date of hire.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exams, ensures comfort and modesty, and verifies patient identification before procedures.
• Positions patients and provides instructions to achieve proper imaging results.
• Follows department policies and adjusts techniques as needed with guidance from radiologists and supervisors.
• Maintains radiation safety and ALARA principles to protect patients and staff.
• Calculates factors, selects equipment, and ensures images meet department protocols.
• Evaluates image quality and performs adjustments to ensure diagnostic usefulness.
• Operates radiology equipment, including portable x-ray, within established routines.
• Ensures accurate patient demographics and accession numbers in PACs/RIS workflows.
• Monitors patients for contrast reactions and provides patient education as needed.
• Assists radiologists in specialized examinations and manages supplies for procedures.
• Documents examinations and ensures proper patient identification for billing and records.

Education

RTR licensure in the Commonwealth Massachusetts, this includes a temporary (1 year) MA license.

ARRT certification in Radiology is required within 12 months from date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

BLS certification.
