Job summary

Gulf Island LLC in Houma, Louisiana is seeking a Plasma Operator for the night shift to operate plasma cutting, press brake and shear cutter in our fabrication shop, following blueprints and specifications.

You will read technical drawings, select tooling, inspect parts and collaborate with the team to meet production schedules. Prior plasma cutter experience and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience operating a plasma cutter.
• Must be able to read a tape measure.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate plasma cutting machines to cut sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications.
• Set up, adjust and operate press brake machines to bend, form or punch sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications.
• Set, adjust and operate the shear cutter for material type / length / width and ensure clean, accurate cuts with minimal burr.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders and measurement tools to ensure accuracy.
• Select proper tooling and dies for each job and perform adjustments as needed.
• Inspect parts during and after production to verify conformance to specifications.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines.
