Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and specimen handling with accuracy and compassion in a third-shift role at UofL Hospital, Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in phlebotomy, documentation, and adherence to safety policies.

Responsibilities include timely specimen transport, accurate labeling, and interaction with patients, staff, and medical teams. Familiarity with Cerner EHR is advantageous, and CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of certified phlebotomy program is preferred.
• CPR certification is required.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• Completion of a phlebotomy externship or one year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner EHR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within established turn-around times.
• Recognizes abnormal, unexpected situations and investigates prior to delivering specimens to the testing area.
• Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Answers phone calls and provides information courteously and professionally.
• Maintains specimen integrity and documentation for medical necessity.
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality.
