Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist for the Winston Campus Laboratory in Winston-Salem, NC. This full-time position offers a 3rd shift, Monday–Friday 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities include accurate blood collection, proper patient identification, safe handling of specimens, and contributing to smooth lab operations while maintaining professional standards and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens, according to departmental practices.
• Assures accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
• Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment. Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education.
• Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
• Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approval policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
• Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.
• Provides age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age specific guidelines for school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults.
• Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
