Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Pharmacist for overnight shifts. You will optimize drug therapy, oversee dispensing including sterile products, and document clinical activities. Role includes counseling patients and training staff within the Pharmacy Inpatient Operations unit.

Active NC pharmacist licensure is required or obtainable before start; no prior experience is required for new graduates. This full-time, onsite position offers competitive pay and state benefits.

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree.
• Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board.
• No prior experience required.
• Night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Receives prescriptions, interprets prescriptions, and reviews the patient's medication profile/history.
• Utilizes and analyzes patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations.
• Compounds and oversees the preparation and dispensing of medications including sterile products.
• Completes required documentation such as notations in the medical record, controlled substances documentation, cash register reconciliation, competency.
• Counsels patients and appropriate family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues.
• Directs workflow of the shift and supervises pharmacy technicians, students, and/or volunteers.
• Adheres to federal, state, local and institutional policies, procedures, standards and regulations.
• Identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities.
• Precepts students, residents and participates in training new pharmacy staff as required.
