Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant for Per Diem Night shifts to provide direct patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, and help maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Qualified candidates hold a current BLS card, must obtain PCT certification within the first year, and typically have a high school diploma with hospital/ nursing home experience

Qualifications

• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• PCT certification required within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with basic needs including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating and using the restroom.
• Regularly measures and records vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Draws blood, urine, or stool samples for testing.
• Immediately reports and changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing staff.
• Maintaining safe, clean, and therapeutic environments; responding to patient call bells; property and environment searches.
