Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) to provide a safe environment for patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse. You will observe, feed, bathe, toileting, ambulate, and engage patients in activities, offering companionship while reporting changes per protocol.

This contingent midnight shift role requires effective communication with patients via headset, basic computer use, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital setting within HFHS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS Heartsaver training completed during orientation.
• Ability to communicate with patients via microphone and headset.
• Ability to respond quickly to patient changes and communicate with staff.
• Basic computer operation skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe patient environment under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Observe patients and report any changes per protocol.
• Assist with feeding, bathing, toileting, and ambulation.
• Engage patients in activities they enjoy (reading, cards, etc.) and provide companionship.
• Maintain HFHS mission and values while supporting patients and staff.
