Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to provide peer support within a multidisciplinary team, using personal recovery experience to guide crisis processing and wellness strategies. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, person-centered planning, and linkage of services to promote recovery and avoid hospitalizations.

Responsibilities include advocating for consumers, offering recovery information, assessing needs, and coordinating with QMHP/LPHA when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Recovery Support Specialists are individuals in recovery or with life experiences to support others.
• CRSS certification is preferred but not required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an individual advocate for consumers.
• Provide peer support and recovery information to consumers, following trauma-informed care principles.
• Assess consumer needs, goals, and resources; collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop plans.
• Document service provision and maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
• Engage with community agencies and local services to link consumers to supports.
