Job summary

PACS Group is seeking a dedicated Medication Aide for night shift (6pm-6am) to assist in administering medications to residents under physician and nursing supervision. You will follow established nursing standards and facility policies to ensure safe, accurate medication passes and timely documentation.

Responsibilities include reporting medication administration errors, participating in QA programs, and maintaining clear communication with nurses, physicians, and pharmacists.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education.
• Ability to follow facility policies and procedures for medication administration.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report concerns as required.

Responsibilities

• Follow policies governing administration of medications to residents.
• Note and report errors in medication administration.
• Assist in developing procedures to reduce medication errors and preventable adverse events.
• Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports as required.
• Maintain professional relationships with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
• Report complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs and medication-related committees.
• Prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications as ordered.
• Verify medications brought in by new residents with physicians or pharmacists.
• Follow labeling and documentation procedures for medications.
• Document and remove medications discontinued by the physician.
• Notify supervisors of any medication errors or adverse reactions.
• Document vital signs and ensure proper resident identification prior to administration.
• Respect resident autonomy for self-administration when applicable.
• Adhere to patient privacy laws and protect health information.
