Job summary

The Howard County Public School System is seeking a working supervisory custodial position responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of assigned facilities and grounds. The incumbent will supervise custodians, coordinate routine building and grounds tasks, perform inspections, and ensure safety and security of the school buildings.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 65 pounds, and availability for emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of custodian experience, preferably in a school system.
• Must be able to supervise custodians and coordinate tasks.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and operate cleaning/grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and directs routine building and ground maintenance including cleaning, snow removal and lawn mowing.
• Inspects building security and cleanliness; ensures custodial staff are trained to secure building.
• Cleans buildings and grounds; operates cleaning and grass-cutting equipment.
• Makes custodian job assignments and ensures completion of work.
• Open and secure building; perform minor repairs.
• Emergency availability; respond to incidents.
