Job summary

The Howard County Public School System invites applications for a Custodial Specialist Leadman. Under the supervision of an Assistant Manager in Custodial Services, you will direct the custodial team, perform skilled cleaning of gym floors, tile, carpet, and high dusting, and coordinate daily work orders across schools and facilities.

This 12-month AFSCME position requires a HS diploma, custodian experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 65 pounds; emergency weather responses

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (must scan and upload to the online application)
• Three years of experience as a custodian and two years of experience as a lead custodian
• Valid driver’s license with two or fewer points on driving record
• Proficiency in floor cleaning, waxing, and high-dusting procedures

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the work of custodial staff across schools and facilities
• Conduct specialized cleaning for gym floors, tile, carpet, and high-dusting tasks
• Plan weekly work orders and deploy staff efficiently
• Order materials and maintain supplies
• Perform training and administrative duties related to custodial operations
• Operate heavy equipment and safety machinery as required
