Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Specimen Processing professional for the IL Central Lab. This full-time role operates on the 3rd shift from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays, and includes benefits eligibility.

You will ensure specimens are properly labeled, resolve identification issues, enter test requests, and assist with reports and inventory. A high school diploma and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills and typing ability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
• Interface professionally with physicians, patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Resolves specimen identification and/or requisition problems.
• Obtains billing/insurance information and verifies diagnosis codes.
• Enters and verifies test requests in the laboratory system.
• Receives, sorts, and stores specimens; assists with handling and transport.
• Generates and distributes reports; assists with inventory.
• Trains new employees and serves as a resource.
