Job summary

Holy Cross Health is seeking a dedicated Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) for the Maternity Suites on a part‑time night shift. The role supports mothers and newborns in couplet care, coordinating admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining patient flow and safety.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, prior unit secretary experience, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, color vision, and keen attention to detail are essential in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a unit secretary, administrative partner or Health Unit Coordinator preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to identify and distinguish color.
• Visual and auditory acuity.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients, families and visitors to answer inquiries and delegate when necessary.
• Maintains unit and patient flow, census & assignment boards and records.
• Processes orders/requests for supplies/equipment.
• Assists with admission/transfer/discharge process.
• Monitors baby alarms and doors for the secure locked unit.
• Assist Physicians and Nurses with workflow as needed.
