Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Maryland seeks a part-time Maternity Suites Health Unit Coordinator. You will support the Mother Baby nursing team, manage admissions and patient flow, and assist with rounds in a private recovery setting designed for couplet care.

Reporting to the Director of Maternity Suites, this role emphasizes patient teaching, coordination, and efficient unit operations with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a unit secretary, administrative partner or Health Unit Coordinator preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written/verbal communication.
• Must be fluent in English and have good color vision and acuity.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients, families and visitors to answer inquiries and delegate when necessary.
• Maintains unit and patient flow, census & assignment boards and records.
• Processes orders/requests for supplies/equipment.
• Assists with admission/transfer/discharge process.
• Monitors baby alarms and locked unit access, ensuring security.
• Assist physicians and nurses with workflow as needed.

• Full-Time
• Reporting to the Director of Maternity Suites
• Our Mother Baby Nurses provide care to Mothers and infants after delivery in private recovery rooms, known as couplet care, to a diverse patient population. You will provide assessment, planning, interventions, evaluation, with a high emphasis on patient teaching on how to manage co-morbidities that impact healing though a Primary Nursing Care model.

Responsibilities

• Monitors continuously for baby alarms and doors for the secure locked unit
• Assist Physicians and Nurses with workflow as needed

What You Will Need

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a unit secretary, administrative partner or Health Unit Coordinator
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office products.
• Must have excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and fluency in the English language
• Visual and auditory acuity
• Ability to identify and distinguish color
