Job summary

Holy Cross Health is seeking a part-time Night Shift Health Unit Coordinator for the Maternity Suites. You will support mothers and newborns, coordinate patient flow, and assist with admissions, discharges and daily operations in a private recovery setting.

The role requires strong communication, computer skills, and a commitment to high-quality patient care within a Catholic, not-for-profit health system that values diversity and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience as a unit secretary or Health Unit Coordinator preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients, families and visitors to answer inquiries.
• Maintains unit and patient flow, census and assignment boards.
• Processes orders/requests for supplies/equipment.
• Assists with admission/transfer/discharge process.
• Monitors baby alarms and secure unit doors.
• Assists physicians and nurses with workflow as needed.

• Full-Time
• Reporting to the Director of Maternity Suites
• Our Mother Baby Nurses provide care to Mothers and infants after delivery in private recovery rooms, known as couplet care, to a diverse patient population. You will provide assessment, planning, interventions, evaluation, with a high emphasis on patient teaching on how to manage co-morbidities that impact healing though a Primary Nursing Care model.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients, families and visitors to answer inquiries and delegate when necessary
• Maintains unit and patient flow, census & assignment boards and records
• Processes orders/requests for supplies/equipment
• Assists with admission/transfer/discharge process
• Monitors continuously for baby alarms and doors for the secure locked unit
• Assist Physicians and Nurses with workflow as needed

What you will need

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a unit secretary, administrative partner or Health Unit Coordinator
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office products.
• Must have excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and fluency in the English language
• Visual and auditory acuity
• Ability to identify and distinguish color
