Night Hospitalist: PA/NP Overnight Coverage

Job summary

WakeMed is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide supplemental hospitalist coverage during nights. The PA/NP will work under supervision from the Medical Director, physician partners, and APP Manager to deliver competent medical care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role includes completing referrals, rounds, notes, discharge summaries, prescribing, and post-procedure care, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with valid licensure.
• DEA registration is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and/or outpatient care as part of hospitalist coverage.
• Perform referrals, daily rounds, and daily notes; generate discharge summaries and clinic notes.
• Perform procedures as required and participate in pre/post-procedure care and prescribing.
• Provide patient follow-ups and collaborate with multidisciplinary team to maximize patient care.
• Educate PA/NP/CNM students and maintain practice within North Carolina regulatory guidelines.
• Adhere to WakeMed policies and participate in annual reviews.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant or Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant

Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing
