Job summary

Institute for Community Living Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care in a residential Brooklyn setting. You will support adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities, assisting with daily living activities and skill-building toward independence.

Responsibilities include personal care, nutrition support, documentation, and participation in program planning. Required AMAP/SCIP-R/CPR/First Aid within 6 months; a NYS Driver’s license may be needed; U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited public or private organization.
• AMAP Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
• SCIP‑R Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
• CPR and First Aid Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
• New York State Driver’s License with a clean driving record (may be required based on shift/location).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and health support, including hygiene and medication administration (per AMAP).
• Support nutrition and mealtime activities, including meal preparation and social dining.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized residential environment.
• Promote development, independence, and community integration through skill-building and transportation.
• Encourage positive interpersonal relationships, money management, and leisure activities.
• Observe and report progress; participate in planning, meetings, and training.
• Apply approved behavior management techniques and respond to emergencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
