Job summary

Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a Direct Care Staff member for St. PJ’s Children’s Home in San Antonio, TX to provide nightly supervision and care for children in crisis.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, nurturing environment, routines, and health monitoring while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of childcare experience, with a 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of childcare experience preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a nurturing, therapeutic environment for children in the emergency shelter.
• Establish a consistent daily routine and plan activities to reduce boredom.
• Provide for children's physical needs and recognize illness, seeking guidance as needed.
• Build trust with children through respectful, supportive interactions and teamwork with staff.
• Attend mandatory trainings and participate in quality assurance activities.
