Job summary

Duke Health Cary is seeking an experienced ultrasound technologist to operate sonographic equipment and communicate diagnostic results to radiologists. The role includes performing a range of ultrasound exams and supporting daily ultrasound department operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient safety and comfort, teaching students during rotations, and ensuring accurate exam tracking and billing. A registry path with ARDMS within 18 months, plus BLS, is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification.
• ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire.
• RDMS and RVT preferred.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
• Exams include abdominal, vascular, small parts, ob-gyn, infant head/hip/spine, and interventional procedures.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures.
• Differentiates normal vs pathologic findings.
• Communicates findings to Radiologist.
• Maintains safety and comfort of patients during exams.
• Coordinates with health care team for patient care.
• Assists in teaching ultrasound students during rotations.
• Mentains equipment and supplies; completes exam tracking/billing.

Education
