Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington is seeking a Custodian for Housing Operations on the IUB campus in Bloomington, IN. The role involves cleaning and maintaining student living spaces, restrooms, and common areas, with evening/night shifts from Thursday through Monday.

Responsibilities include operating standard cleaning equipment, handling trash and recycling, and assisting with snow removal as needed. The position is union-covered (AFSCME) with full-time hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• General knowledge at the high school level.
• Custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and facilities clean and orderly.
• Performs daily cleaning of restrooms and showers in student living spaces.
• Vacuums hallways in student living spaces.
• Maintains daily the public spaces of our residential areas.
• Cleans floors, ramps, and stairs by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
• Services and cleans restrooms.
• Gathers and empties recycling and trash.
• Cleans and polishes fixtures.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Cleans windows and mirrors using cleaners.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Strips and polishes floors.
• Assists with snow removal as necessary.
