Job summary

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is seeking a working supervisory custodian to oversee cleaning and grounds at a school facility. Under supervision, you will direct custodians, ensure safety, and maintain buildings and grounds to support student learning.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and custodian experience, with preference for school-system familiarity. The role features an 8.5-hour day, 12-month schedule, and eligibility for MSRA pension and AFSCME

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Six months of custodian experience or equivalent preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct routine building and grounds maintenance.
• Inspect building security and cleanliness.
• Train custodial staff on safety and procedures.
• Clean and maintain classrooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Perform floor and window cleaning, light repairs, and equipment checks.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours calls.
