Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the night shift to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and reporting changes in patient condition.

Responsibilities cover vital signs, blood glucose testing, EKGs as indicated, safe patient transport, and documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and current CPR certification.
• One year of nursing assistant experience or completion of a nursing assistant training program or current CNA.
• Willingness to participate in MRMC training and follow infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: observe patients, record vitals, assist with daily living.
• Equipment Management: clean and manage equipment per unit protocols.
• Documentation: record intake/output and vital signs in EMR.
• Environmental Safety: keep bed low, ensure call lights within reach, maintain safe environment.
• Transportation and Specimen Handling: transport patients and specimens safely.
• Infection Control: practice hand hygiene and infection control guidelines.
• Education and Precepting: maintain CPR certs and precept new CNAs.
