Job summary

Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital in Freeport, IL seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide hands-on patient care on Med-Surg during night shifts. You will take vital signs, monitor blood glucose, assist with catheters and telemetry under RN supervision, and help maintain a safe, clean patient environment.

The role requires completion of a CNA program and current state CNA certification; CPR/BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CNA program.
• Current CNA certificate in applicable state and CPR/BLS within 90 days.
• Ability to respond to patient needs and document care per standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on patient care including vital signs and glucose monitoring.
• Float between units based on patient care needs and assist with catheters, drains, and other devices.
• Document care and ensure clean environment; respond to call lights promptly.
• Train and precept new partners with unit educator.
• Maintain documentation and reporting to RN; participate in performance improvement activities.
