Job summary

Ascension’s Pastoral Spiritual Care department in Manhattan, KS seeks a role that provides and documents pastoral care to patients, families and staff, while engaging with local ministries through prayer and blessings.

The position involves ethical consultations with families and medical staff, plus planning and implementing spirituality initiatives across ministries. Minimum education requirements and ACPE training are specified, with healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma equivalency required.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE or CPEI required.
• Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Theology, Spirituality, Social Work, Divinity, Philosophy, Servant Leadership, Pastoral Studies, Human Behavior or related field preferred.
• 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, provide, and document pastoral care to patients, families, and staff.
• Provide pastoral care to the local ministry and community through prayer and blessings.
• Provide consultation to patients, families, and medical staff with ethical decision making and referrals as needed.
• Assist in planning, organizing, evaluating, and implementing the spiritual program with local ministries.
