Job summary

University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking a Boiler Maintenance Operator to manage the heating and cooling systems across campus facilities. You will clean, inspect, and repair boilers, maintain safety protocols, and work with HVAC and electrical teams to ensure reliable operation.

The role covers both the Volker and Health Sciences campuses, with a shift from 12:00am to 8:00am, Friday through Tuesday, and includes union eligibility under Local 955. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; demonstrated skills may offset this requirement.
• Knowledge of heating boilers with ability to operate boilers and associated equipment.
• Knowledge and skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment, and materials used for general building maintenance.
• Manual dexterity and physical coordination.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Periodically clean boilers, inspect for defects, and perform maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain freeze protection system and respond to alarms in the plant.
• Replace worn parts, overhaul solenoids and fans, and perform cleaning tasks in the power plant.
• Read gauges and control systems; adjust to the required levels.
• Coordinate with other trades for major repairs and support.
