Job summary

The Last Resort Recovery Center in Smithville, TX seeks Behavioral Health Technicians for our treatment facility. You will interact with patients per policy, help with orientation, and support daily recovery activities on a secure campus.

Role requires adherence to program schedules and compassionate patient engagement. Responsibilities include facilitating meetings, supervising activities, assisting nurses, and documenting shifts while maintaining safety and professionalism in a demanding

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of chemical dependency recovery.
• Must be able to walk within the facility and grounds for approximately one mile per eight-hour shift.
• Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three hours per eight-hour shift.
• Must be able to administer CPR and be certified.
• Must be able to see and hear constantly.
• Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
• Maintain records and have good communication skills.
• Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one hour.
• If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence.
• Preferred qualifications: One year’s experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact.

Responsibilities

• Be aware of patient locations, patrol the facility, and document hourly checks.
• Ensure patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for assignments.
• Supervise patient activities and assist in documentation.
• Oversee med line to prevent diversion and de-escalate situations.
• Assist patients to activities, medication times, and meals as needed.
• Assist the counselor and complete required documentation.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to help patients overcome denial and complete treatment goals.
• Manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports.
• Attend staff trainings and programs as directed.
• Assist nurses as directed by supervisor.
• Drive patients to appointments and outings as directed.
• Procure patient sundries as needed.

The Last Resort offers a unique and powerful approach to addiction recovery through our Equine Therapy program. Nestled in the serene outskirts of Austin on our 55-acre ranch, our campus provides men with the opportunity to heal and grow from drug and alcohol abuse.

We are seeking Behavioral Health Technicians to add to our dynamic team! Behavioral Health Techs are integral in the overall functioning of the facility. In all instances, BHTs will interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment policies and procedures and may facilitate patient orientation, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist in luggage and body searches
• Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
• Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks
• Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment
• Supervise and sometime facilitate patient activities as directed
• Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening
• Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise
• Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
• Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation
• Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures
• Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals
• Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
• Attend staff training and programs as directed
• Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
• Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed
• Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed
• Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
• Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner
• Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients
• Other duties as assigned
