Job summary

The Last Resort Recovery Center in Smithville, Texas, is seeking PRN Service Worker staff to support safety and program operations at our 55‑acre ranch near Austin. This role focuses on assisting with patient care, transportation, and on-site logistics within our addiction treatment program.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, facilitating groups, documenting checks, and assisting nurses and counselors.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of chemical dependency recovery.
• Must be able to walk within the facility and grounds for about 1 mile per 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to sit continuously for about 3 hours per 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to administer CPR and be certified.
• Must be able to see and hear constantly.
• Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stress.
• Maintain records and have good communication skills.
• Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to 1 hour.
• If recovering, two years of continuous abstinence.

Responsibilities

• Be aware of patient locations and document hourly checks.
• Ensure adherence to Bradford Program Schedule and punctuality.
• Supervise and sometimes facilitate patient activities as directed.
• Maintain patients in rooms at designated evening times.
• Oversee med line to prevent diversion and de-escalate situations.
• Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when needed.
• Assist the counselor and document appropriately.
• Follow all policies and procedures.

The Last Resort offers a unique and powerful approach to addiction recovery through our Equine Therapy program. Nestled in the serene outskirts of Austin on our 55-acre ranch, our campus provides men with the opportunity to heal and grow from drug and alcohol abuse.

Responsibilities

• Assist in luggage and body searches
• Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
• Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks
• Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment
• Supervise and sometime facilitate patient activities as directed
• Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening
• Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise
• Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
• Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation
• Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures
• Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals
• Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
• Attend staff training and programs as directed
• Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
• Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed
• Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed
• Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
• Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner
• Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three (3) hours per eight (8) hour shift
• Must be able to administer CPR and be certified
• Must be able to see and hear constantly
• Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations
• Maintain records and have good communication skills
• Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one (1) hour
• If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence

Preferred Qualifications

• One year’s experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
