Bradford Health Services, serving The Last Resort Recovery Center on a 55-acre Austin-area ranch, seeks PRN Behavioral Health Technicians to support client care. Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must communicate effectively and have a basic understanding of chemical dependency recovery.
  • Able to walk about one mile per 8-hour shift; sit for ~3 hours per shift.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Able to stay alert and manage stressful situations.
  • Must maintain records and have good communication skills.
  • Must work cooperatively with staff and clients.
  • Two years of continuous abstinence if recovering.

Responsibilities

  • Support counselor with documentation and adherence to policies.

  • Drive patients to appointments and purchase sundries as directed.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and appearance.

Job description

The Last Resort Recovery Center offers a comprehensive range of treatment options designed to meet the diverse needs of men and their families struggling with many different types of substances. From personalized therapy sessions that integrate evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to holistic approaches that emphasize mindfulness, nutrition, and physical wellness, our programs are designed to support clients every step of the way. The Last Resort offers a unique and powerful approach to addiction recovery through our Equine Therapy program. Nestled in the serene outskirts of Austin on our 55-acre ranch, our campus provides men with the opportunity to heal and grow from drug and alcohol abuse.

We are seeking PRNBehavioral Health Technicians to add to our dynamic team! Behavioral Health Techs are integral in the overall functioning of the facility. In all instances, BHTs will interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment policies and procedures and may facilitate patient orientation, as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in luggage and body searches
  • Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
  • Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks
  • Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment
  • Supervise and sometime facilitate patient activities as directed
  • Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening
  • Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise
  • Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
  • Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation
  • Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals
  • Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
  • Attend staff training and programs as directed
  • Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
  • Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed
  • Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients
  • Regular attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery
  • Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately one (1) mile per every eight (8) hour shift
  • Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three (3) hours per eight (8) hour shift
  • Must be able to administer CPR and be certified
  • Must be able to see and hear constantly
  • Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations
  • Maintain records and have good communication skills
  • Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one (1) hour
  • If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred
  • One year’s experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
