Overview
The Night Auditor is responsible for executing all property service, operational, and business functions during the overnight hours. This individual serves as the main point of contact for guests during this time frame to ensure an exceptional personalized service delivery in accordance with property, company, and brand guidelines.
Schedule and Availability
- Open availability required / part-time
- Typical schedule is the overnight shift from 11pm-7am
- Weekend availability is required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue, banquet revenue, cashier’s reports, and guest and house accounts for accuracy; assist with the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues
- Follow day closing audit procedures and prepare the hotel for the next day of business
- Interact with guests by providing exceptional customer service and share hotel knowledge using personalization
- Process mobile arrivals and execute flawless service in the remote check-in area according to property, company, and brand guidelines
- Collect and verify methods of payment, and assist with guest billing inquiries
- Maintain and post a daily balance of all house accounts, including running preliminary reconciliations, detail transactions, and final reports to accounting and profit centers
- Reconcile cashiers reports with the restaurant system each night, researching and posting unresolved tickets from the day shifts
- Report suspicious activities or unusual items in hotel rooms and common areas to hotel leadership and/or loss prevention
- Promote hotel loyalty programs and enroll new guests as applicable
- Assign and escort guests to rooms according to preferences and ensure guest confidentiality
- Maintain guest information in the Empower guest experience tool and reference, update, and communicate guest requests
- Execute front office reports, pre-arrival planning, and checklists as directed by leadership
- Provide concierge services with local information for shopping, dining, and recreation; assist with reservations or tours
- Assist guests with luggage handling, storage, and delivery of luggage and mail
- Respond to and resolve all guest inquiries and opportunities following empowerment guidelines
- Follow scheduled shifts, break and lunch requirements; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions; complete safety training and certifications
- Maintain professional communication; prepare and review written documents accurately; answer telephones with proper etiquette
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; take initiative with limited supervision
- Adhere to hotel policies and procedures; maintain cleanliness and order of work areas
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to service guests
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; Overnight work experience required
- 1-2+ years in hospitality, preferably with front desk experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; initiative-taker
- Opera PMS experience or other hotel reservation systems preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to handle confidential information and work with technology (computers, tablets, iPads)
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain confidentiality
- A sense of ownership and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; capable of bending frequently
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Corrected vision to normal range
- Ability to work long hours as needed
- Ability to make sound judgments quickly and handle high-pressure situations
- Ability to work independently and manage diverse personalities
Notice
The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must be aware that shifts may be adjusted to meet business demands. This is a hospitality environment and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
