Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Balance room, restaurant, conference space, and bar daily work. Post and balance charges, send settlements promptly, and maintain files while resetting systems for the next day.
Essential Functions
- Check guests in and out.
- Prepare daily revenue reports by auditing Micros tapes/journals to breakdown revenue, covers, server fees, tips, and settlements.
- Run audit reports from various systems including the Front Office mainframe, Micros computer, and Credit Card system.
- Make corrections, adjustments, and handle computer issues during the shift.
- Input revenue, expenses, and allowances to generate daily reports such as the Guest Ledger and Restaurant Summary.
- Balance revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files, and reset systems for the next day.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Front Office and Night Managers.
- Greet guests, respond to requests, and provide accurate information.
- Input and retrieve information from computer systems, and assign rooms based on guest needs.
- Handle guest issues, complaints, and requests professionally.
- Remain calm during emergencies and heavy hotel activity.
- Answer phones professionally and input guest requests and complaints into the system.
- Provide area and hotel information to guests.
- Deal diplomatically with internal and external customers.
- Represent the hotel professionally and adhere to policies and standards.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as needed.
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of accounting operations, including receivables and payables.
- Basic math skills and ability to operate a 10-key.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the front office area.
- Good hearing and visual ability to observe emergencies.
- Ability to accurately input information into computer systems.
- Excellent telephone etiquette.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality experience preferred.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to produce high-quality work on time.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
