Job summary

Valor Hospitality Partners is seeking a Night Audit professional to manage end-of-day hotel financials and guest service during night hours. You will audit cash and posted transactions, balance accounts, and prepare daily reports to help ownership and management understand daily performance.

Ideal candidates have high school diploma, 6–12 months in hospitality or related field, solid cash handling and computer skills, and the ability to stand for extended periods.

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Six to twelve months of employment in related position or office setting with this company or other organization.
  • Accounting or hospitality experience a bonus.
  • Excellent computer and cash handling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, balance and report on all cash and credit operations for outlets and front desk.
  • Reconcile cashier’s reports with the restaurant system and post daily tickets.
  • Balance and report room charges, taxes, deposits and sources of revenue.
  • Prepare statistics and income journals for daily reports.
  • Transmit credit card batches and run night audit final.
  • Act as hotel system liaison during night hours.
  • Perform Guest Service Representative functions as required.

POSITION PROFILE

Responsible for performing close of day scenarios for the hotel Guest Service area and account for daily activity by organizing and verifying information; identifying and correcting discrepancies; posting accounts; running and distributing daily reports.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Audit, balance and report on all food and beverage outlets’ (e.g. restaurant, lounges, banquets, room service) cash and credit operations to include but not limited to checks, over/short figures/tally sheets, deposits, counts, house charges, promotional materials, postings, etc. And reset all registers to ensure accurate, timely information.
  • Follow all specified procedures to reconcile cashier’s reports with the restaurant system each night, researching and posting any unresolved tickets from the day shifts.Follow all specified procedures to maintain and post a daily balance of all house accounts, including running preliminary reconciliations, detail transactions and final reports to accounting.
  • Audit, balance, post and report on the front desk to include but not limited to; room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, deposits, etc. To ensure accuracy and verify proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Audit, balance and prepare, verify and report on Room information to provide rooms management with a picture of how they are performing.
  • Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for preparation of daily reports. Produce accurate and timely reports and correctly handle all cash transactions.
  • Balance and audit for accuracy room revenue, food and beverage revenue, cashier’s reports, and guest and house accounts and telephone revenue; assisting the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues. Balance and close all bank ticket codes, daily.
  • Transmit credit card batches.
  • Run night audit final after ensuring all revenues are in balance nightly.
  • Complete and transmit daily management and accounting reports and supporting documents.
  • Act as hotel system liaison during night hours.
  • Perform all Guest Service Representative functions as required; may assists in booking room reservations; may assist in answering hotel phone calls and notifying guests of message.
  • Perform any other duties as designated.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Six to twelve months of employment in related position or office setting with this company or other organization. Accounting or hospitality experience a bonus.
  • Requires having excellent computer and cash handling skills, ability to stand for extended periods of time; present a sociable, outgoing, lively and guest service-oriented demeanor. Ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
  • Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job.
  • Good judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Bending and lifting to support organization of the hotel and offices
