Overview
The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling all hotel cashier transactions, reviewing, organizing, and compiling management reports in a timely manner, and ensuring the accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions. They are also responsible for effectively communicating concerns and issues to management and performing guest service agent duties such as check-in, check-out, switchboard operation, and reservations.
Responsibilities
- Work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic.
- Cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
- Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines.
- Perform guest services functions (check-in/out, reservations, call handling).
- Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
- Prepare and distribute daily reports (Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, Tax Reports, etc.) according to hotel standards.
- Prepare and distribute month-end reports.
- Audit and reconcile Front Desk and Food & Beverage Cashier work.
- Audit, reconcile, and transmit credit card transactions timely.
- Ensure accuracy of all reported numbers and statistics.
- Input and update financial data into the corporate network.
- Perform data processing functions as required.
- Keep management informed of operational or financial issues and policy deviations.
- Ensure guest satisfaction.
- Respond to governmental inquiries.
- Handle guest requests.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Guest service experience is preferred.
- Computer skills required.
- Flexibility for long and late hours.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Availability for late/overnight shifts.
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance and personal grooming standards.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safety and efficiency.
