The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for a Night Auditor to join our team!

Job Summary:

The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing the revenue and expense transactions, which occurred during the day at the hotel, and for the overall operations and appearance of the front desk. Additionally, the Night Auditor is also responsible for attending to the needs of guests, especially during check-in and check-out.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Providing information to guests about hotel policies, services, and amenities.
  • Responding to requests from guests for assistance and information about the local area (e.g., directions, places to eat, etc.).
  • Selling and upselling rooms to “walk-in” customers.
  • Partners with the sales department to ensure knowledge of key accounts and groups, along with tracking of company information.
  • Entering/changing reservation information on the computer system.
  • Posting charges to guest accounts.
  • Processing payments from guests.
  • Closing, balancing, and making necessary corrections to guest accounts.
  • Counting and balancing cash, credit cards and direct bill accounts.
  • Analyzing out-of-balance situations and adjusting or corrections as needed.
  • Completing various computer audit reports.
  • Listening for or anticipating and responding to guest complaints.
  • Operating hotel switchboard or PBX. Use established greeting when answering the phone or meeting guests in person.
  • Cleaning the front desk and lobby area.
  • Maintaining daily logs.
  • Balancing shift work and cash drawers.
  • Responsible to report any potential safety or security hazards to management immediately.
  • At times, may be responsible to clean guest rooms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including dealing with difficult and rude patrons.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with local area with the ability to provide directions and maps to local attractions and destinations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds at a time.
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time and being able to reach approximately forty-eight inches in height.
