Job Description Summary

The Night Auditor (NA) is responsible for accurately balancing all hotel income and expenses for every 24-hour hotel operating period. The NA also acts as a Guest Service Agent for the overnight front desk shift at the hotel. The NA is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the front desk. The NA will act as the hotel system liaison during night hours. The NA will call in and open tickets with Opera, SynXis, or system support during the overnight hours if a system fails or issues occur.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
  2. Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue and telephone revenue for accuracy; assist in the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues.
  3. Balance and audit all room tax charges, cashier reports, and guest house accounts for accuracy.
  4. Complete and transmit daily management/accounting reports with supporting documentation ensuring accurate accounting of hotel revenues and expenses.
  5. Prepare General Manager daily, weekly and month end reporting packs.
  6. Assist in setting up the complimentary breakfast service including hot and cold food, juice and coffee stations, and supplies.
  7. Assist in washing, drying, and folding hotel laundry.
  8. Act as the security point of contact during various times in the shift.
  9. Communicate with the Operations Manager to resolve accounting discrepancies and request or provide information.
  10. Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services, room location, and Travel Pass rewards program. Answer phones courteously and promptly.
  11. Process all cash and credit transactions accurately, including posting charges, completing reports, and securing the bank.
  12. Book guest reservations, process cancellations, revisions, and up-sell rooms to maximize revenue.
  13. Follow the hotel's seasonal reservation strategies regarding room types and pricing.
  14. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other shifts and management.
  15. Service the shoppe and pour, ensuring guests receive quality products and service, following all local laws regarding alcohol sales.
  16. Ensure guest requests are fulfilled and services delivered properly.
  17. Manage guest safe-deposit boxes.
  18. Comply with health, safety, and alcohol service laws.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. One year of hotel experience preferred.
  3. Experience in extended stay industry preferred.
  4. Strong reading and writing skills for records and registration.
  5. Fluent English (additional languages beneficial).
  6. Professional communication skills.
  7. Basic math skills.
  8. Problem-solving and organizational skills.
  9. Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera preferred.
  10. Valid driver’s license.
  11. Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  12. Obtain ServSafe and possibly TIPS certifications.
