Job summary

Denver Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Department Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) as a full-time night provider in Denver, Colorado. The role bridges Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine, delivering protocol-driven care for short-term observation, treatment, diagnostic evaluation, and disposition planning.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification (or obtained within designated timeframe)
• Minimum one year of APP experience in Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Observation Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another acute care setting
• Two or more years of Emergency Medicine, Observation Medicine, or Hospital Medicine experience
• Experience with protocol-driven clinical pathways
• Colorado license (or eligible)
• DEA registration (or eligible)
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage adult observation patients following Emergency Department evaluation.
• Perform ongoing assessments, diagnostic interpretation, and treatment planning.
• Manage patients using evidence-based observation pathways.
• Coordinate care with Emergency Medicine physicians, specialists, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, case management, and social work.
• Facilitate safe discharge planning or inpatient admission.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient throughput and patient care.
