Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Special Chemistry Technologist to join the Halsey Lab team in Portland, OR. Work Schedule: 12:00AM-8:30AM Tuesday-Saturday with potential to rotate weekends/holidays.

The role requires a life science degree (MLS preferred) and clinical laboratory testing experience. ASCP/AMT certification is a plus; strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential to deliver accurate results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or Medical Technology required.
• MLS degree preferred or 1 year+ of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

LabCorp is seeking a Special Chemistry Technologist to join our team at the Halsey Lab in Portland, OR.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria assist with other Special Chemistry testing, Immunochemistry areas
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in Special Chemistry ASCP or AMT certification
