Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX is seeking a Technologist to join our team for a night shift schedule (Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 pm–5:30 am) with coverage as needed. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science or MLS, and 1+ year of laboratory testing experience or MLS certification.

You will perform routine and complex testing, operate instrumentation, and ensure timely reporting of results to support quality patient care. Flexibility for overtime is included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• MLS degree also acceptable as alternative.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or MLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Houston, TX.

Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday: 9:00 pm to 5:30 am. Coverage as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualification

Current or prior Labcorp experience ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
