Job summary

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso seeks a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to assess newborns, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality infant care.

You will perform admission assessments, create discharge plans, and communicate changes to the care team, while administering medications and supporting families in homecare and breastfeeding initiatives.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse license or diploma as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission assessments of newborns.
• Create and revise plan of care including discharge plans; evaluate effectiveness.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of infants and communicate changes promptly.
• Administer medications and complete treatments per hospital policy.
• Assist transport teams in stabilization and document transfers.
• Provide education materials to families on homecare, treatments, adoption and support groups.
• Assist mothers in breastfeeding alongside Lactation Department.
• Delegate tasks to non-licensed staff per standards of practice.
