Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey is seeking a Neonatal/SCN nurse to join the Special Care Nursery team. The role involves caring for infants in a Level 2.5 unit with potential to 18 beds, under supervision of Nursing Director and ANM.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, plan of care, administering therapies, and education for families. A valid NJ RN license is required and NICU experience is preferred; orientation is full-time.

Qualifications

• Must have valid NJ RN License and be maintained per NJ Licensing Board policy.
• 1 year NICU/SCN experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills required for team coordination.
• Orientation is full-time; new to practice 12–16 weeks, experienced staff 8 weeks or shorter.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and develop a plan of care.
• Administer, monitor, and document therapies and interventions.
• Manage rapidly changing clinical situations.
• Participate in clinical decision-making with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families about disease, care needs, safety.
• Delegate and supervise care provided by nursing staff.
• Maintain standard precautions and patient safety principles.
• Participate in orientation, education and development of healthcare team.
• Include performance improvement activities and maintain competencies.
