Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the day shift (7a–7p) to promote cardiopulmonary health and support patient care across the continuum.

The role requires a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program credential, active NBRC registration, and an Ohio license, with BLS and possibly PALS/NRP depending on unit. The department emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care is required.
• Current Ohio license to practice respiratory care is required.
• AHA BLS certification is required.
• Current PALS or NRP certification may be required depending on unit of hire.

Responsibilities

• Promote optimum cardiopulmonary function and health; apply scientific principles to prevent, identify and treat dysfunction.
• Access unit medication areas to retrieve medications per authorization.
• Perform Respiratory Care under medical direction across care continuum and develop patient-specific care plans.
• Provide Family Centered Respiratory Care and communicate needs to the care team.
• Assess cardiopulmonary needs and report findings to staff; participate in quality improvement activities.
• Support interdisciplinary care and contribute to staff meetings with updates.
